VW Käfer Limousine "1963", grey, 1:18

In the course of its 65 years in production, the Volkswagen, developed in the 1830s by the Stuttgart design office, Porsche, under government contract, grew to be the most produced car in the world, overtaking the previous record holder, the „Tin Lizzy“ Ford model T. The most outstanding technical characteristics of the „Beetle“ were its streamlined shape, revolutionary for its time, its air-cooled 4-cylinder boxer engine, its novel platform frame and its newly developed torsion bar suspension, which, over the years, underwent a continuous development and improvement process. Documentation shows that, from 1948 to 1974, no less than 78,000 changes were made to the VW Beetle. So said the former Managing Director of the Volkswagen plant, Heinrich Nordhoff, in 1954 on the occasion of a VW Beetle meeting: „We are convinced that salvation lies not in new designs, however bold and magnificent they may, but in the thorough-going and never satisfied further development of even the smallest details to maturity and perfection, which indeed brings the really surprising success“. This is also true for the completely newly developed, 1:18 scale metal model of the 1963 VW Beetle, which is captivating with its multitude of painstaking details, making this model an enrichment for every VW beetle and model car collection.   Warning! Not suitable for children under 14 years.

VW T3a Camper Joker green1:18

€169.00

The Volkswagen T3 Transporter, which was unveiled in 1979, set new standards for recreational and family activities. In contrast to the first two generations of the VW Transporter, the very squarish and matterof-fact shape of the T3 was far from charming for many customers. Nonetheless, its powerful boxer engine, greater comfort and the large amount of available space ensured the Volkswagen T3 soon became a firm favourite with customers. Manufactured between 1979 and 1992 as a bus, box van and flat-bed truck, it offered lots of opportunities to stamp your personal mark on the vehicle. Due to the great success of the VW T2 Westfalia camper van, the T3 was also designed as a Westfalia. During its production period, there were a number of camping variants such as the ‘Joker’ basic model and the slightly more elaborately equipped ‘Club Joker’. In later years, the ‘Joker’ model was also marketed under the name ‘California’. Volkswagen subsequently launched the ‘Atlantic’, which was a more luxurious mobile home. Today, the original T3 ‘Joker’, ‘Club Joker’, ‘California’ and ‘Atlantic’ versions are an integral part of the VW club scene and fetch high prices among collectors and fans.   Warning! After the first Porsche sports car, the so-called Porsche No. 1, was individually licensed for road traffic as early as the 8th of June 1948, in March 1949, Porsche presented its first production sports car at the Geneva Salon de l‘Auto, the legendary Porsche 356. Using classical tuning techniques, such as modified cylinder heads and twin carburettors, on the 4-cylinder boxer engine taken over from the VW Beetle, the engine power of the first Porsche 356 could be increased to a respectable 40 hp. Between 1949 and 1950, a total of 44 coupé and 8 convertible versions of the so-called „Gmünd Porsche 356“ were entirely hand-built. In 1950, Porsche moved back to its main factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen in which, by the end of production of the type 365 in April 1965, slightly over 76,000 of this sports car icon were produced.

The Hercules 160 was equipped with 12 forward and 4 reverse gears and was available in a 25 km/h and 30 km/h version. It was produced from 1979 to 1983. From July 1967 to September 1968, just 2,947 examples of this classic old-school British roadster were manufactured.
